The Meg (Episode 7)

Everyone’s upset about the Oscars introducing a new “Popular Film” category (3:43) but Matt is just excited to be talking about award season already. Shelby leads them in a game of Rank Your Favorite Chris’s after breaking the news that talks to star both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth in *Star Trek 4* have stalled (24:33). There’s some music talk about Kanye, Justin Timberlake, and Nicki Minaj but the real star of the show is a prehistoric shark coming up to bite critics in the ass: *The Meg* (33:55). Matt and Shelby pick a side as they talk about whether this movie nailed its popcorn flick aspirations or took on more than it could chew. They do a deep dive into what little plot there is so SPOILER ALERT (50:57). And then it’s Love It or Hate It (1:20:44) as Matt goes off on *The Book Thief* and Shelby praises the trailer of a movie she’ll never see.
